I'm using Windows 10.

I've followed the numerous blogs and articles, basically 2 major points came out of those:

enable the handler in Chrome Settings
check the registry and make sure we've got the uTorrent.exe correctly set in the HKEY_USERS path
If you don't know what I'm talking about, it means you've not dig enough.

If you know what i'm talking about, then I've found the solution by parsing my whole registry, looking for the word "magnet" and discovering the following:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\Google Chrome\Capabilities\URLAssociations]
"ftp"="ChromeHTML"
"http"="ChromeHTML"
"https"="ChromeHTML"
"irc"="ChromeHTML"
"mailto"="ChromeHTML"
"mms"="ChromeHTML"
"news"="ChromeHTML"
"nntp"="ChromeHTML"
"sms"="ChromeHTML"
"smsto"="ChromeHTML"
"tel"="ChromeHTML"
"urn"="ChromeHTML"
"webcal"="ChromeHTML"
"magnet"="ChromeHTML"
"snews"="ChromeHTML"

and

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Clients\StartMenuInternet\Google Chrome\Capabilities\URLAssociations]
"ftp"="ChromeHTML"
"http"="ChromeHTML"
"https"="ChromeHTML"
"irc"="ChromeHTML"
"mailto"="ChromeHTML"
"mms"="ChromeHTML"
"news"="ChromeHTML"
"nntp"="ChromeHTML"
"sms"="ChromeHTML"
"smsto"="ChromeHTML"
"tel"="ChromeHTML"
"urn"="ChromeHTML"
"webcal"="ChromeHTML"
"magnet"="ChromeHTML"
"snews"="ChromeHTML"

Make sure Chrome is closed.

I removed the two lines where magnet is displayed.

I restarted Chrome, and tadaaaaa the magnet links are now working, uTorrent opens correclty :)

Greemlin

Re: What is crowdfunding and how does it work?

A useful article: thanks

Re: Getting Magnet links to work with uTorrent when using Chrome

yes same problem

Re: Getting Magnet links to work with uTorrent when using Chrome

what about firefox

Re: Getting Magnet links to work with uTorrent when using Chrome

Yes, but like, why did you delete your history? 😏😏😏 *wink wink*

Re: Getting Magnet links to work with uTorrent when using Chrome

Didn't work on windows 7 either..best solution..use another browser..chrome blocks alot of things!

Re: Getting Magnet links to work with uTorrent when using Chrome

Thanks IT works

Re: Getting Magnet links to work with uTorrent when using Chrome

Surprisingly enough it works, I just had to move the file to it's original location. Simply clear browser history from chrome and retry a magnet link. For me it asked the permission once again. Had this issue for months and now knowing the simplicity of its fix, my foot is kicking the hell out ofmy own arse lol.
Hope it helps.

Re: Getting Magnet links to work with uTorrent when using Chrome

cant find magnet or where it should be created.
I tried searching nearby elements. my code is different.

Re: Getting Magnet links to work with uTorrent when using Chrome

Why do that when you can just paste the magnet's URL directly into the torrent software?
Nobody anywhere needs to feed links to your crap site when they can bypass it completely.

Re: Getting Magnet links to work with uTorrent when using Chrome

OMGGGGGG THIS TOTALLY WORK!
